We’ll be candid. This campaign was not easy. After our 2015 Build Better Jumps Campaign, which went seamlessly from start to fulfillment in 120 days, this one has taken a year. It was harder for a lot of reasons that you have already heard about: a more difficult blade to build, moving production, expansion into color ways - too fast - as we were attempting to settle supply chain and scale… a complex set of rewards in each tier. Finally, a new third-party logistics firm, BackerKit software that proved problematic for us.
On a scale of of 1 to 10 in terms of difficulty, this one was an 11!
We hope one day to share our lessons learned as nothing enables growth like challenges. We’d be happy to give back to other project creators and help steer them towards simplicity and success.

We still have product shipping out and if you fall into one of the following categories, no further action is needed on your end:
1. Customers missing a Stealth Shovel. If you’ve fallen victim to the Backerkit glitch, we have already discovered you and you should have received an email from us regarding the situation earlier today. A new order has already been placed for you and your Stealth Shovel will be shipping shortly, if it has not shipped already!
2. Customers awaiting a new product that is not yet in stock. If you received a letter to choose a new Stealth Shovel color, but the color you chose was not yet in stock, do not worry! Your shovel will ship as soon as we have product in stock.
3. Customers awaiting T-grips or shafts. These are backordered and will ship into the New Year.

We are almost at our one-year anniversary since launching the DMOS Alpha Shovel campaign. The saying “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” applies to us. We are grateful that today we have a company that has survived some stumbles and is now dialed in production and supply chain. However, we couldn’t get there without your support. So, the following is the full back story.
Producing multiple colorways of anodized shafts and blades and then shipping out mixed product models and colors and accessories created complexity and we did not fully comprehend the difficulty of that endeavor. We clearly planned a complex campaign a year ago, moved production during fulfillment of it from Asia to Portland, and then had no buffer for additional time for unforeseen contingencies. Of course, we encountered few unforeseen contingencies including not being able to anodize all of the desired colorways in the desired production window in Portland. Anodization is an environmentally-unfriendly process and, necessity being the mother of invention, we quickly evaluated powder coat as a finish for our blades. Luckily, powder coat offers both advantages of being a more hydrophobic finish and also it is a more environmentally-friendly process. This process is what we now use for our blades.
You believed in us, backed our campaign, and IRONICALLY, those of you MOST stoked on DMOS who backed our biggest multi-product rewards, are/were the last ones to get your order. To the small group of you still waiting for product, you’ll be emailed directly this afternoon with a resolution.
The exciting news here is that DMOS is growing and we’re absorbing all these learnings and feedback from you to deliver on Hardware for Out There in 2018! Our rockstar team is working around the clock and we want to thank you for supporting our small company and sticking with us!
In the seasons ahead, we look forward to producing more new tools that we believe you will want and making them available to you first and with special discounts. Our future Kickstarter goal will always be to fulfill all rewards within 90 days after the close of a campaign. Never again, will we run a campaign if we can’t produce the product quickly.

Hello backers!!
Here's a little update if you are someone who has received a partial order or you are missing a shovel.
Due to a system error on backerkit, some orders have been sent missing a shovel. Each time we have looked into this issue, backerkit states that the shovel was not sent because the customer never selected their color preference. However, it has been determined to be a glitch in backerkit.
If you find that you have received an order with a missing shovel, or you check your backerkit and think there should be another shovel listed there, please don't hesitate to reach out at [email protected] and we will get it taken care of immediately!
Additionally, if you receive a damaged shovel, please shoot us an email so we can take care of it! Don't forget our 30-Day Money-Back-Guarantee to help you repair, replace or return any shovel that is not standing up to the job you think it should!
Next, we get questions about the missing T-Grip part of the saw. That's the black shaft with the T part. The answer is that we are backordered on that part (it's a bit complicated as we make 4 part shaft segments all day long but not just the top part) so we went ahead and shipped everything else.
We will get you this part by January 15 but we'll do everything we can to deliver it sooner.
The other issue is that some people aren't sure how the saw pairs with the shovel. You can use the saw with a D-grip or T-grip that you already have. If that's an issue you have - watch this:
